On January 25, the President of Kherson CCI Victoria Ostroumova and heads of member-enterprises of the Chamber Mr. Abdul Abdulov (“Timal” company) and Mr. Ali Bulut (“Euro Trade” company) participated in Turkish-Ukrainian Business Forum that was held during the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Ukraine. Besides a business meeting the 15th session of Ukrainian-Turkish Business Council took place, which was dedicated to 20th anniversary of the organization founding.
The meeting was attended by the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych and the Prime Minister of Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The President of Ukraine noticed the contribution to the development of mutually beneficial bilateral trade made by Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ukrainian-Turkish Business Council established by it.
Turkey, that has one of the world’s top twenty economies, is one of the key trade and economic partners of Ukraine. In pattern of foreign trade this Middle East country stably ranks second (after Russia) among the countries that are Ukrainian goods importers. During the meeting of two heads of state an arrangement has been reached to increase bilateral trade, in particular a target to increase it to the level of 10 billion dollars was defined.
Among the promising spheres of interaction are transport, energy, tourism and hotel industries. Ukraine is interested in investments to the infrastructure of large cities, such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Donetsk and Lviv, as those are the places where 2012 European Football Championship will be held. Also the decision was made to start negotiations on concluding Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey.
The president of Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine, Sergey Skripchenko, delivered short speech of welcome at the meeting in front of forum members. The co-chairman of Turkish-Ukrainian Business Council, Rushen Chetina shared with the plans of Turkish side concerning future work of the Council. The President of the Turkish-Ukrainian Business Association, Ali Sezen, delivered reports about joint plans, and his vice-president, Alexander Blavdzevych presented at the forum the position of Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs concerning perspectives of cooperation.
During the business forum Cooperation Agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine and the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey was concluded as well as similar agreement was made between the Ukrainian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey.
After the plenary session of business forum was closed, individual talks took place between businessmen of both countries.
